What this speed test measures

We load your homepage in a lab test on a simulated phone and on desktop, score its performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO, and add real-user data when your site has enough visitors.

MetricWhat it meansGood
Largest Contentful PaintWhen the main content has loadedunder 2.5 s
Interaction to Next PaintHow fast the page reacts to taps and clicksunder 200 ms

Total Blocking TimeHow long scripts block the page (lab)under 200 ms

Quick ways to speed up your site

  1. Compress and resize images, and serve them as WebP or AVIF.
  2. Use a CDN and caching so pages are served from close to your visitors.
  3. Cut unused JavaScript, especially third-party widgets, chat bubbles and trackers.
  4. Reserve space for images and ads so the layout doesn’t jump.
  5. Pick fast hosting. A slow server response delays everything else.

Website speed test FAQ

Where do the speed scores come from?

From a lab test that loads your homepage on a simulated phone and on desktop, plus real-user Core Web Vitals when the site has enough visitors.

What is a good speed score?

90 to 100 is good, 50 to 89 needs improvement and below 50 is poor. Mobile scores are usually lower than desktop because the test simulates a slower phone and network.

Why does my score change between tests?

Lab tests vary a little with server load and network conditions. Look at the trend and at the real-user data rather than one exact number.

What are Core Web Vitals?

The three user-experience metrics search engines care about most: Largest Contentful Paint (loading), Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness) and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability).
